Two years ago, I decided that I would give up gambling forever. Now it's been 732 days since my last gamble.
My Gambling Addiction Story
I started gambling when I was 18 years old with daily fantasy sports. It started off as fun, but by the time I was going off to college, I was gambling compulsively for 6-8 hours a day... This would continue for 6 years as I developed a full blown gambling addiction.
I went into debt 6 times over the course of 6 years to the point that I had to get a second job to cover the debts. Life was not good, and I was doing it to myself.
My Recovery Journey
On November 12th of 2022 following a 12 hour gambling binge the previous day, I decided that I was going to get some serious help and leave gambling behind.
A few months later I started to create content about my experience to help others avoid making the same mistakes with their life that I made with mine.
I focused on a few things to get myself clean
Limited access to money that would tempt me
Found meaningful things to do to fill my time
Self-excluded from the casinos
Went to support group meetings
Things came together and through consistent effort, I have now reached 2 years clean from gambling.
I want that for you as well if you are struggling.
